Bridgestone Corporation is a Japanese multinational manufacturing company founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi in the city of Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan. The name Bridgestone comes from a calque translation and transposition of ishibashi, meaning 'stone bridge' in Japanese. It primarily manufactures tires, as well as golf equipment.
As of 2021, Bridgestone is the largest manufacturer of tires in the world, followed by Michelin, Goodyear, Continental, and Pirelli.
