TEXAF, is a Belgian investment company listed on Euronext, with diversified operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo spanning real estate, industry, and digital. Headquartered at Avenue Louise 130A in Brussels, TEXAF was founded in 1925 and initially rose to prominence as the leading textile manufacturer in the Belgian Congo, later becoming one of the largest in Africa. During the 1990s and early 2000s, TEXAF faced severe setbacks due to the effects of the First and Second Congo Wars, including disruption of cotton supplies, economic decline, and illegal imports of low-cost textiles from Asia. In response to these challenges, TEXAF entered a joint venture in 2004 with the Cha Group, a Hong Kong-based textile company, to form Congotex, and later Immotex, which managed textile operations and land assets in Kinshasa. Congotex ceased operations in 2007, marking TEXAF's shift from textile production to broader investment and industrial activities.
